Before packing your suitcase and dreaming of the Caribbean beaches or the Andes mountains... there is a key question that can completely change your trip.
Do you have all the necessary vaccines to enter Colombia in 2025?
Keep reading, because what seems like a detail can become the starting point of a peaceful journey... or a headache.
No, to enter the country, but there is one that you should have and we recommend if you are going to certain areas of the country: the yellow fever vaccine. Colombia is a destination with jungle and tropical regions where this disease can be present, so health authorities ask for this vaccine if you are going to visit places like:
Amazonas
Guainía
Guaviare
Vaupés
Tayrona Park
Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
💡Important: This vaccine should be applied at least 10 days before the trip and is valid for life. We decided to get it before our trip to the Amazon and it was an excellent decision.
Only in cases like yellow fever. If you visit tropical regions, you should carry the International Vaccination Certificate, which is obtained when you get the vaccine at an authorized center. It could also be required upon entry if you come from a country where there is yellow fever, such as Brazil, Bolivia or African countries.
Check in your country with a health center, international vaccination center or a trusted doctor. Ideally, do it at least 4 weeks before the trip so that your body generates immunity in time.
Always use mosquito repellent if you are going to tropical areas.
Carry bottled water and avoid ice in rural areas.
Use sunscreen and cool clothing in the Caribbean.
Carry a small first aid kit with the basics in case of an emergency.
Now that you have all the information, Mochiliante😉🌎, we hope that Colombia is on your list of next destinations.
