The Tayrona Park is much more than a protected natural area. It is part of the ancestral territory of the indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, who consider it sacred. This park is recognized for its biodiversity and its impressive landscape, where the mountains meet the sea in a magical embrace
The Tayrona Park is located on the north coast of Colombia, in the department of Magdalena, just 45 minutes from the city of Santa Marta. It has an approximate area of 150 square kilometers. This natural paradise offers a variety of ecosystems, from white sand beaches to dense tropical jungles.
It has a tropical climate, with temperatures ranging between 25°C and 30°C for most of the year. However, it is important to be prepared for possible changes. as the region can experience periods of rain as well as radiant sun

El Zaino is the main entrance and we recommend you to get off there. The advantage of this entrance is that you can walk to the points of interest, such as: Cañaveral, Arrecifes, La Piscina and Cabo San Juan beaches. The entrance is from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
The entrance fee to Tayrona Park varies according to the need, age and season of the year, we explain what CAN is and if you are part of it: The CAN is an international organization, Andean Community (CAN), integrated by Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. Don't forget to book your accommodation in advance! Especially if you plan to visit Tayrona Park on weekends, holidays or during the summer and New Year holidays
The Tayrona National Natural Park has several activities, from observing its fauna and flora to beautiful beaches to rest and enjoy, so we tell you:
Discover the beauty of Cabo San Juan del Guía, a famous place within the Tayrona National Natural Park. This gem is known for its beach, crystal clear waters and tropical jungle, home to a variety of birds and reptiles. In addition, it is very close to Boca del Saco, a nudist beach for the more adventurous
To get to Cabo San Juan, enter the park through the main entrance of El Zaino and take a van to the beginning of the trail. From there, enjoy a walk of approximately 7 kilometers. Along the way, you can stop at other beaches and admire the stunning natural landscapes
La Piscina is a beach located in Tayrona Park, it is a safe swimming area thanks to its natural barrier of rocks that calms the strong waves. Although it is a small natural pool, its tranquility attracts travelers, which can make it crowded, mostly, to travelers who are on their way to Cabo San Juan.
Exploring Tayrona Park is a total adventure that allows you to disconnect from the city and immerse yourself in nature. You only have to worry about exploring its trails, listening to the sounds of the jungle and capturing every moment with your camera
The hike from El Zaino to Cabo de San Juan is 7 km long, so we recommend you to get up early and divide this hike into 2 days. The first day arrives at Playa Arrecifes and the second at Cabo de San Juan. Although it all depends on your level to walk
Next, we will give you recommendations that we saw during our trip so that you don't miss anything and take advantage of everything to the maximum
Book in advance: Visitors are recommended to book their accommodation in advance, especially in periods of high demand such as weekends, holidays and vacations
Pack properly: It is important to wear comfortable and light clothing, suitable footwear for walking, sunscreen, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle and a camera to capture special moments
Stay hydrated and protected: It is important to drink enough water during hikes and outdoor activities to stay hydrated. Also, apply sunscreen regularly to protect yourself from the sun's rays
Respect nature: Visitors are urged to follow the park's rules and regulations, such as not leaving trash, not feeding wildlife and staying on designated trails to minimize environmental impact.
And so concludes our Guide to Tayrona Park! We hope this helps you organize your trip and that you have an experience full of unforgettable moments. Until a next adventure, Backpacker! (Mochiliante) 😁🫡😉
