Mochiliante
This place is famous for being the last home of Simón Bolívar, it holds important moments of Colombia's independence. It is a popular destination for those who enjoy cultural tourism and national heritage.
Founded on February 2, 1608 by the religious Francisco de Godoy, the hacienda was named La Florida San Pedro Alejandrino in honor of the Spanish martyr Pedro Godoy. Over time, this property changed owners 15 times, belonging to notable families such as Mondragón, Orozco, Zubiría and De Mier
In 1808, Don Faustino de Mier y Theran bought the hacienda, but later lost it because he did not support the patriot cause. Later, towards the end of the 19th century, the Spaniard Don Joaquín de Mier y Benítez became the owner, increasing the production of sugar cane to make panela, rum and honey
