The Colombian Santorini is located in the district of Doradal, in the municipality of Puerto Triunfo, Antioquia. It is about three hours from Medellín and four hours from Bogotá, being accessible from the highway that connects both cities.
From Bogotá: To get to Santorini from Bogotá, you must first get to the town of Doradal, Antioquia. This is the closest place to Santorini. The bus to Doradal costs $80,000 COP and takes about 7 hours. Once in Doradal, you can take a taxi or mototaxi that will take you to Santorini for $7,000 COP.
From Medellín: It is almost the same as from Bogotá by land. Once in Medellín, you must take a bus to Doradal, Antioquia. The ticket costs $50,000 COP and takes about 3 hours. Once in Doradal, you can take a taxi or mototaxi that will take you to Santorini for $7,000 COP.
Tip: If you want to travel by plane, the easiest way is to take a flight to Medellín and from there take transportation to Doradal.
Although it does not have centuries of history like its Greek counterpart, Río de Oro has deep cultural roots. Founded in the 18th century, this municipality was mainly dedicated to agriculture and fishing. In recent years, the effort of its inhabitants to renew the facades of their houses with white and blue paint has transformed the place, making it an Instagram-worthy corner.
